Officially established in October 2024 at North South University, the NSU Intelligent Robotics Lab (NIRO) serves as an innovation hub where creativity meets cutting-edge research. Our mission is to make robotics research accessible, impactful, and future-focused, transforming theoretical concepts into tangible, real-world solutions.

Supported by expert faculty and passionate students, the lab is equipped with advanced facilities for every stage of development. Through a structured cycle of conceptualization, simulation, design, fabrication, assembly, software integration and testing, NIRO Lab delivers innovative real-world solutions while shaping a self-sustaining robotics ecosystem.

At NIRO Lab, we follow a systematic six-stage Robotics Innovation Cycle that transforms ideas into fully functional robotic systems:

Modelling & Simulation Rigorous computational modeling validates concepts before physical implementation, minimizing risks and optimizing designs
Design Detailed mechanical and electronic designs ensure every component is optimized for performance and manufacturability
Fabrication In-house fabrication using 3D printing, CNC machining, and other manufacturing techniques
Assembling Careful integration of components with attention to mechanical tolerances and system architecture
Software Development Robust control algorithms, perception systems, and AI-driven decision-making software
Physical Testing Real-world testing validates performance and feeds insights back for continuous refinement
